If it is breath taking scenery and wildlife that excites you then there is plenty to see in Scotland, from rolling hills to the mountains of the Highlands, which are rich in wildlife. You may even get lucky and see a Golden Eagle, or the evasive wild cat, or ‘Nessie’ the beast of Loch Ness.

You can explore the rugged and forestry scenery, the castles that hold some of the rich history, the white sandy beaches of the coast and the Isles, or the cities and towns you will not be disappointed. Scotland has something to offer everyone whatever you’re age or interests, from shopping in the cosmopolitan cities to mountain climbing in the Highlands.

Inverness

Inverness itself lies at the top of the Great Glen Fault, which literally cuts this part of Scotland in half from Inverness to Fort William. The stunning landscape was created by the last ice age, which has created majestic glens and mountains. The town itself is nestled among some stunning scenery and a short journey by car will take you to some of the most stunning sites and views in Scotland. Inverness is a great central base to explore the whole area, from the shores of Loch Ness to the Maroy Firth to the majestic Glen Affric, plus many more amassing places to visit. You can explore the area by foot, cycling or by car to see some amazing countryside and wildlife, from dolphins, to seals and wild dear.

A short drive by car or a bus journey into the surrounding area can open up many amazing places to discover and things to explore. Culloden Battlefield is only a short drive from Inverness town centre, the site of this famous battle can be explored in great detail. Why not take the Loch Ness Trail, which takes you around the shores of the great Loch, you might even see ‘Nessie’. There are also many historical castles to discover were you can stand in the place of many famous and historical important people, from William Wallace to Mary Queen of Scots. To combine both Castle exploring and ‘Nessie’ watching, a visit to Urquhart Castle near Drumnadrochit is a must, the views across the Loch from the Castle shores are said to be the best for ‘Nessie’ watching. In Drumnadrochit you can also visit two Loch Ness exhibitions designed to explore the myth of ‘Nessie’; one also includes original equipment used in some of the scientific searches.

Inverness is set in a land shaped by a colourful history and thriving culture that is reflected throughout the centre and surrounding area. It is a great town, with plenty to entertain you what ever your interest or age. There is everything from historical castles and houses, great architecture, attractions to boating on the Loch Ness. Inverness is the capital of the highlands and has everything you would expect in facilities, fine restaurants ranging from traditional Scottish cuisine to world cuisine’s. There are also many excellent pubs and bars were you are sure to enjoy a friendly greeting.

Glasgow

Glasgow is truly a visually stunning city. Rich in stunning architecture, history and heritage, plus the surrounding area of the Clyde Valley is teeming with natural scenic beauty. Every were you look or turn in Glasgow you are greeted with charm and splendour. Glasgow also has so much to offer in entertainment what ever your interest, weather you are there for the culture, history or night-life. There is so much to do in cultural activities and entertainment with plenty of fun and excitement to be had in this city with its own glowing personality.

Glasgow is the largest retail centre in the UK outside of London and in 1999 celebrated its reign as the UK’s city of Architecture and Design. There is everything from excellent retail therapy, award winning museum and galleries to country parks and gardens. The surrounding towns and villages are also excellent for shopping for unusual gifts and souvenirs.

Why not escape into the surrounding countryside for a break from this dynamic cultural centre. The Clyde Nature Reserve is home to amazing wildlife and remarkable scenery, which offers a peaceful and wondrous exploration into the surrounding countryside. Glasgow makes an excellent central base to explore the region and surrounding sites. Just a short drive North and you will be at the shores of Loch Lomond.

However you decided to spend your time in Glasgow you will discover a land that will remain in your memory for a long time.
