Castle Rising Castle Explore the massive defensive earthworks, one of the largest keeps in the country and the well preserved medieval kitchen, richly decorated exterior. This elaborate Norman building is one of the largest in the Country, set in twelve acres of defensive earthworks, this castle is an impressive site. It is also the site of Isabella, the 'she-wolf' of France imprisonment after she murdered her husband, Edward II. Although, she was allowed to retire here in comfort. Castle Acre Priory and Castle This is the site of Britain's best preserved Cluniac priory, with a superb Norman Façade still raised to its original height. Here you can learn about the daily life of the monks. This site is also the place of one of the greatest Norman settlements in England, were you can explore the ruins of the moated Castle, which boasts the most impressive earthworks in Britain.
